Privacy Policy

The Adopt a Scientist project staff respect the privacy of all participants. Each scientist’s information will only be shared with the classes that he or she is paired with. The American Physical Society will not share a teacher’s information with anyone. The only information scientists will have about the classes they are paired with is the information provided to them by the class. Aside from this, only Adopt a Scientist project staff will have access to personal information, and project staff will take all appropriate actions to protect that information.

Scientists

Classes that adopt you will contact you by email. To ensure the privacy of students, we encourage classes to send emails through the teacher’s email account and ask that you respond using the teacher’s email as well. Adopt a Scientist project staff are not responsible for any interaction you might have with the students or teachers beyond the initial interview.

Teachers

Each class will be paired with five scientists. You should contact the scientists you are paired with by email. To protect the privacy of your students we suggest that you filter all email correspondence through your own email account and remove students personal email addresses from the correspondence. Adopt a Scientist project staff are not responsible for any interaction you might have with the scientist beyond the initial interview.

The views expressed by the scientists are their own. The content and the opinions of the scientists have not been reviewed by any organizing body.
